The area is approx. 1.75 times larger than the UK and is also known for its large stretch of coastline which means that you are always close to the sea. The location on the cold Atlantic makes it possible to go whale watching, discover icebergs or go on kayak and canoe trips. There is a rich wildlife here. You can e.g. see Atlantic puffins. When the first Vikings arrived in Canada, it was here, on the northwestern tip of the Newfoundland island, that they landed.
