UK Guardianship

MyEducation Guardians provide guardianship and care for international students living and studying in the UK at an independent day or boarding school. MyEducation Guardians can support students between the age of 11 and 18. Guardians are required for any student visa holder coming to the UK to study and are often required by the schools that enrol you.

An Educational Guardian can be anyone living within the UK. As a company, MyEducation provides guardianship for students studying across the UK. We provide a local support person who will monitor the student’s progress at school and make sure they are happy and supported. MyEducation can also provide a fully checked and vetted host family for exeats, half terms and Christmas and Easter holidays. Our families provide a caring and supportive environment and welcome the students in as part of their home. Wherever possible, students will live with the same family throughout their time in the UK.  MyEducation Guardians also provide 24/7 emergency support to ensure that students are safe and can seek help when needed.

MyEducation has preliminary accreditation with AEGIS and follows their standards to ensure that our students are well looked after and that they are provided with the support and care that they need while living away from their home and family in a new country.

Students will be matched to a local host family who will welcome them into their homes for exeats and holidays. All families are visited in their homes for suitability and all members of the home over the age of 16 are police checked (DBS or PVG). Families are trained in safeguarding and are supported to provide a caring and welcoming environment for a young person. A home away from home for our students.

Families will provide full board accommodation in a single room with access to a quiet study area. Students may have the option to share if they wish to.

02
Local Guardian Support

Each student will be assigned a Local Guardian who will be their support person. Students can contact their Local Guardian for any support and help that they need. The Local Guardian will visit the students at school or at their host family once every half term. They will also provide a welcome orientation for new students. Guardians will be in contact every two weeks by email / messaging / phone to check in with the students.

The Local Guardian will be a friendly face for the students to talk with and get to know. They will meet with staff at the school to check on academic progress. Reports will be issued to parents after each in-person meeting to give a update on their child.

03
Transfers

MyEducation will arrange all transfers for the students. For boarding school students, MyEducation will confirm their transfers between the airport and school and between host family homes and schools. For day pupils, MyEducation will confirm airport transfers and assist in securing a place on the school bus for daily travel to and from school.

MyEducation only books taxi transfer services which use police checked drivers and complete thorough vetting checks on their drivers. Fees for a taxi transfer will be charged at cost to the student’s expenses account. For transfers completed by a host family or MyEducation staff, the transfer will be charged to the student’s expenses account at 45p per mile.
